Tropical Art Deco In Miami Beach
The Penguin Hotel is a 1940's Late Art Deco three-story building designed by Henry Hohauser. Built in 1949, a forerunner of international style, its most prominent Art Deco architectural details are projected ribbon windows in the facade and streamlined moldings in the lobby. The building was renovated in 1996 to a fun, tropical ambiance yet retaining its original Art Deco charm. Located across the street from the beach, The Penguin Hotel is within walking distance of all the shopping, water sports and exciting nightlife of South Beach.
